Angles, channels and beams all look similar on a site. They do different jobs. Picking the wrong one means extra cost or a weak structure. Here is a simple way to choose.
MS Angle
An L-shaped section. Used for frames, supports, brackets, towers and light fabrication. Easy to cut and weld.
MS Channel
A C-shaped section. Used for purlins, frames, vehicle bodies and platforms. Good where you need a flat surface to fix other parts.
MS Beam
An I or H-shaped section. Used where the load is heavy, such as columns, girders and floors in sheds and factories.
How to decide
- Light frame or support: angle
- Purlins, platforms, body work: channel
- Main load-bearing member: beam
Always confirm size and thickness with your structural engineer before you order.
